Ask Me Anything
A while ago, I did not Vote. I was overwhelmed by all of the different levels of government, etc. I stayed away. I thought….well, I don’t want to vote for the wrong people.
It was my rational for not devoting a little bit of time a day, a week, to learn.
I honestly did not know where to start.
One day, a dear friend of mine, sat me down and kindly requested that I register, and that I Vote. She told me how important it was for us to have a voice. She explained to me that the process was not perfect. That we had to make the best choice now, and keep involved, so that we all work together to continue to make the best choices. At least we can be a part of the process.
Our candidate did not win that year. Al Gore would have been a great president I believe. I honestly do know that he would have been a better choice over Bush.
I remember what is was like, for 8 years we dealt with a president that we did not believe it. It was tough, and it made me learn more. I did not give up.
I started paying more attention. I’m thankful to be around people that really care and know a lot more information than I could possibly know myself. So I continue to keep learning.
I don’t think Obama or Romney are the best solution. NOT at all. However, I am willing to participate, I am willing to Vote and be heard.
If anything #OWS has shown us that we as a collective can have a voice. We can come together and it does add up. If we don’t do it who will?
the 99% are an important part of this process.
I’m not going to tell you who to Vote for. I’m going to tell you who I am voting for and why.
I’m voting for Obama. I’m voting for obama over the fact that Romney is trying to take womans rights away. If this does not alarm you, I’m not sure what will.
I’m voting for Obama because he is still standing strong for the populations that dont’ have rights as of yet. For those LGBT, who cannot marry, who do not have any rights with loved ones. Because Obama is not taking away Rights for Woman, he is still standing strong for them. And adding to it.
I feel like he is representing a broader and more deeper realistic idea of what it means to live in this world.
Does this represent the American Dream? Be in serious debt, have big houses, lots of cars, lots of payments, less taxes for the rich, which by the way we’ve been down that path, and it got us NOWHERE…..
or do I believe in a new American Dream. One that looks after everybody, one that cares.
Am I fucking pissed that Obama approved the drilling in the Arctic. Your damn right, but you know what, Romney would too. I don’t know all of the information behind it, but I do know that Romney represents a small percentage of people holding all of the wealth, and wanting all of the power. I don’t sit comfortable with this.
This is not how I wish to live.
I believe in looking out for others. I believe that together we are stronger. Together we can have a voice.
Obama, I’m voting for you, and I honestly hope that for these next 4 years you can apply more of your heart, and help improve America for the general public at large. I’m counting on you to employ your heart strings for the planet, for the population, and continue fighting a better fight than what I think Romney would ever fight.
I don’t forget, I remember what it was like, the heartache of the 8 years of the Bush Administration. I remember how powerless I felt, and how alien I felt to this society. I know that you cannot fix things in 4 years.
I get that these issues take time. And that there are bigger pictures and issues going on that I am not even aware of or spending my time dealing with. I’m counting on you to continue to make the best decisions you can.
I believe in Government, because I see how other countries deal with struggle, deal with catastrophes, and I have seen what is possible when the population looks after each other, and does not leave it up to a few that are far removed of what it’s like to live in the real world. For those of us who do work hard, who do want health, who do want the best for the planet and for all walks of life, regardless of what lifestyle or orientation they choose to exist in.
I believe in the numbers, and I am not a person who wants to live life with a President (Romney who is so far removed from reality).
I believe in community! I don’t believe that we are better than anybody else. If we can all help and nurture and encourage ourselves and others to live and love in our highest loving selves, I believe anything is possible.
I will be disappointed in my friends who don’t Vote. I love you, but it will hurt a little if you don’t take anytime to care for this process.
Don’t become so detached from life for everybody, that you can’t take the time to step out of your bubbles and care.
xoxo
